将 The Founder · Shogun of the council

Darshaun Nadeau.

A student in Kyoto. A domain pioneer in Tokyo from 1999. A founder, an acquisition, a portfolio across Japan, Vietnam and Hawaiʻi. Then a council, built so the next generation of founders starts with everything he had to forge alone.

I1998

The crossing

He came to Japanas a student.

San Francisco State taught him the language. A year at Tokyo International University and a final year at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies taught him the country. He finished in 1999, a young American in Japan with the language and a work ethic. Everything after, he built.

II1999

The first boom

The internet arrivedin Japan all at once.

He joined a Tokyo internet recruiting startup and learned how an internet company runs from the inside. Within a year he built a job portal of his own and sold his stake. He entered the Japanese domain-name market the same year, one of very few foreigners in it. The lesson took hold early: build it, prove it, hand it on.

III2001

Solis

A registrar built in Tokyo,by outsiders.

Macro of heat-tempered steel: cobalt and violet oxide over fine straight machining lines.

In February 2001 he founded Solis with engineer Ben Ward, at the moment Japan's domain system was being rebuilt. Solis became an ICANN-accredited registrar and a designated .jp registrar. It partnered with NIFTY, then Japan's largest internet provider, and served more than 450 of Japan's largest listed companies and more than 150 listed companies abroad.

IV2005

The acquisition

Solis joinsGMO Internet.

In July 2005 GMO Internet, known as Global Media Online until weeks before and led by its founder Masatoshi Kumagai, signed to acquire Solis. GMO kept the Solis name running as its corporate domain service. GMO and its founder shaped the standard he builds to today: long-range plans, held with discipline.

V2009

Steel in the industry

He stayed in the trade, and helped govern it.

He co-founded WIXI, an ICANN- and .jp-accredited registrar, in 2009, and went on to found more companies in Tokyo. He sat on the board of the Japan Domain Name Business Association and served in the leadership of the Japan Internet Providers Association. Today he leads PSI-Japan, which has managed domains for Japanese enterprises since 1999.

VIHawaiʻi

The seed of the council

Each oneserves the others.

From Honolulu he runs a portfolio across Hawaiʻi, Japan and Vietnam: a domain and hosting company, a digital agency, an AI inference gateway, a car-rental software company, a premium car-rental operator and a software development house in Hanoi. Each one supplies the others. That design is the seed of HI Combinator.

VII2027

Service to his peers

Chosen to leadfifty CEOs.

His peers in the Entrepreneurs' Organization elected him to lead EO Hawaiʻi, a chapter of about fifty CEOs. He serves as Governance Chair and President-Elect, and takes the chair on 1 July 2027. HI Combinator is his own venture, independent of the Entrepreneurs' Organization.
